Important Notes for 2010/2011 season

New players still needed at under 7 (born 2003 and 2004), under 8 (born 2002), under 11 (born 1999), under 16 (born 1994) and under 17 (born 1993). Our adult team are also looking for new players.

 New season is nearly upon us and we need to get the pitches in good order so please be there at noon this coming Saturday 28th August with rake in hand to help out. The more the merrier!!!!

Final Registration Night

Dunshaughlin Youths Football Club will hold their final pre-season registration night on Monday, August 16^th, at 8pm in the Community Centre. Players must bring a passport or birth certificate to prove date of birth.

Players are urgently required at under 7 (born 2003 and 2004) as well as at under 11 (born 1999), Under 12 (born 1998), under 15 (born 1995), under 16 (born 1994) and under 17 (born 1993). Under 7

DYFC are currently looking for players for our Under 7 teams for the forthcoming season. Players born in 2003 and 2004 are eligible for these teams. For more information please contact SCG secretary Mairin Maher on 086-7940077 or chairman Cathal Dervan on 087-2432978.

Under 11

Training for all Under 11s will take place at 7pm next Tuesday night, August 17^th, at the Industrial Estate. Players, born in 1999, are needed at this level. Please contact secretary Vincent Stanley on 086-7940070 or chairman Cathal Dervan on 087-2432978 for further details. Squad formations for the new season will be announced shortly.

Under 12

Training for under 12s, born in 1998, continues tonight (Wednesday, August 11th) at the Industrial Estate at 7pm. Squad formations for the new season will be announced this week.

REGISTRATION

 Managers Meeting

A meeting for all managers to finalise teams for the new season will be held at 9pm on Monday 9th August in the Arch. For more information contact chairman Cathal Dervan on 087- 2432978.

Coaching 

One of our Coaches Declan Bannon is currently undertaking his FAI Youth Cert badge and is looking for assistance from the 11 aside coaches and players. As part of this assessment he needs to carry out and document a number of training sessions so any help that we can give him would be appreciated. 20th Anniversary Celebrations

Many thanks to all you turned out to help celebrate the 20th Anniversary celebrations. It was really a great site to see all the players and parents, past members etc all there enjoying themselves. The sight of the parade walking down the main street will llive long in the memory and heres to the next 20 years. Copies of the souvenir brochure are still available from the Community Centre for €5 or from any committee member. Check out the Facebook page for photos of the day.

DYFC AGM 2010  -Important Notice

Due to the pending 20th anniversary celebrations of Dunshaughlin Youths FC and the current renovations at the Community Centre, it has been decided by the DYFC committee to postpone Wednesday night's AGM until September.

DYFC MINI-LEAGUES

Well done to all the participants in the mini leagues which finished off at the 20th Anniversary celebrations. The boys and girls who got their medals from our guests really enjoyed themselves and we all hope they continue to play and enjoy their football with Dunshaughlin Youths.

COACHING INFORMATION

This year we have 2 new workshops to the Coach Education programme, it will be a requirement to complete both of these courses before enrolling on Youth Cert courses from September onwards. The Strength and Conditioning workshop is based around exercises for young children and will be very beneficial for you all to complete, it will cost €25 will take place from 7pm – 10pm on April 17^th in the MDL Grounds.

The Small Sided Game Workshop will be an add on to the Kick Start 1 and gives a lot more ideas for small sided games for young players. Again this will cost €25 and will take place from 7pm – 10pm on September 16^th in the MDL Grounds.

Even though a lot of you have already completed Youth Cert and further in some cases it's recommended that you further enhance your Coach Education by enrolling on these new courses. You will be some of the first coaches in the country to complete both new workshops so if you want to reserve a place please let us know as places will be strictly limited and we have been given the first opportunity to book places before an email goes to all the clubs, leagues and schools.

JOHN O'MEARA - A TRIBUTE

It was with great sadness that the committee, members and players from Dunshaughlin Youths FC learnt of the death of our friend and benefactor John O'Meara.

For the past 14 years the boys and girls of Dunshaughlin have played their football on land provided to the club rent free by John at Dunshaughlin's Industrial Estate.

His magnanimous gesture was typical of the man's generosity to our club and the proof positive of that was his kind donation this year of 12 acres of land for new playing pitches for DYFC.

This land, ceded to our club by John and the Stanley brothers, will provide a fitting home for soccer in our village and would simply not have been possible without John's drive and co-operation.

John was also the prime sponsor, along with the Stanleys, of many of our fund raising drives in recent years including our golf classics.

Sadly John died , after an illness, but we will progress with our plans in his honour and he will always be close to our hearts.

To his wife Claire and his young children John and Charlie we can only offer our deepest sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with them in these difficult times.
