The lads came into their first game of the new season with a new look side. A shorter preseason than usual but this didn’t stop the lads from making a statement victory away to Drumcondra.

From the first whistle, Alex Dunphy pressed and won the ball high up and instantly made it 1-0 after 10 seconds. The first half was contested well between both sides but Alex Dunphy was the difference maker.

His second came from a lovely Aaron Keane turn and through ball and Alex slotted home for 2-0. Just before halftime it was 3-0. Eoin Curley with a great run inside and ball in behind the Drumcondra defence for Alex who got his first half hat trick.

Drumcondra came out better the second half with a few shots on the Dunshaughlin goal, but the lads did well to cope with the early pressure.

Our 4th came when Aaron Keane picked up the ball on the edge of the box after great pressure from Mark Caldwell, Aaron slotted confidently into the bottom left corner to get himself off the mark in the first game.

The scoring was finished with Alex Dunphy again pressing well from a lovely ball down the line by Eoin O’Connor. Alex pounced on a heavy touch and punished as he did all game!

A great 5-0 win to start the season for the lads with a fresh squad and more to come in! The midfield today was exceptional, great running all round and pressing was first class, particularly Johnny O’Connor and Cillian Summerville. The defence was also solid and to get a clean sheet was credit to the lads in the back line fighting for every ball.
